This event is free to the public.
Noted author Jo Hiestand will talk about spirit-based English customs such as turning the devil’s stone and watching the church porch. She will tell how she weaves these ghostly customs into her English mystery novels. She will also discuss St. Nicholas’ devilish companions, ideas on how they came into being and the role they play with St. Nicholas. Jo is the author of the Taylor and Graham seven volume mystery series including “Sainted Murder,” Horns of a Dilemma” and “The Coffin Watchers”, which are specific to the evening’s discussion. Jo will have all her books available for purchase and autographing, including her latest novel “Siren Song,” which is a five star Amazon.com reviewed mystery.
Esther Luttrell, screenwriter, producer, author, and speaker, will discuss ghost stories that have significance to her family and herself. Esther once hosted a children’s TV program “Mystery House and has been hooked on ghost stories ever since. Her stories will be about incidents that happened to her or to people she knows. Esther will have copies on hand of her mystery novel “Murder in the Movies” as well as “Dear Dean…Love, Mom”, the book pertaining to her talk.
Foundation spokesperson, Mickey Koetting, indicated that the night’s presentation is especially appropriate as the Jacques Guibourd Historic House has been quoted on numerous websites as being the "most haunted house in Missouri". Guided tours of this historic 1806 National Register Site will be available for a small fee from 10 am to 6 pm on the day of the presentation and will include ghost stories of the Guibourd.
